A historical meeting place!
Like all world ports, Gävle has a history of being an important meeting place. Not only products and services have been exchanged here during hundreds of years – thousands of meetings have also taken place here between different people and cultures with news and events occurring.
The location is still ideal from a event point of view. Gävle is located in the centre of Sweden with excellent railway, road and air travel facilities via Arlanda, Stockholm.
Important and well-known employers are today Korsnäs (paper), Gevalia (coffee), Leaf (Läkerol & candy), Synchronic (electronics). The university of Gävle has approximately 12,000 students.
Gävle’s ice hockey team Brynäs IF and football team Gefle IF are in the Champion League and has one of Sweden’s seven professional symphony orchestras.
